I'd say, when it comes to Java, go to the source. Sun has some Java tutorials (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/) on the Java site (http://java.sun.com/), I'd start there. If, and when, you are looking for books on the topic, both O'Reilly (http://www.ora.com) and Wrox (http://www.wrox.com) have some really good ones. In addition, the O'Reilly Network (http://www.oreillynet.com/) has further information on Java and related technologies at its' OnJava site (http://www.onjava.com/).
