Hi all.

I have Win98 SE and i notice after about 5 hours after startup, it suddenly laggs up and slows down considerably, making running simple tasks almost imposible. I have 128 mb of ram. Can someone help me out on making it last longer?

try more RAM or an OS that can better manage your resources

get a program like RAM Idle or the new Cacheman 5.0....both will help manage and adjust your cache/memory settings to optimal values, and also will recover lost RAM from memory leaks and stuff that win98 is prone to do.

RAM Idle http://www.tweaknow.com/ramidl.html

Cacheman http://www.outertech.com/product.php?product=3&PHPSESSID=5b1e8848df7edde5e643cd96d47ae1b1

the new version of Cacheman actually includes RAM Idle, or at least a program exactly like it...I forget, since I used Cacheman for like 1 day, then uninstalled it...dont really need it on XP...but for win98 it's great.

Also, a few other tweaks you can do....

Do the first 3 topics, Virtual Memory, Computer Role, and VCache, if you haven't done so.

More physical RAM would be good too....if you can pop in another 128 stick...that would be cool
