Time for me to upgrade my monitor, currently I have a Sony 17 inch, I forgot model offhand, have been using it for 3+ years, been working great, but I would like to get a bigger screen, and once I get the GF 3 TI 500, I know it can handle the higher resolutions better.

I was originally going to get the Sony 19 inch monitor, but then thoug about going for the big Sony 21 inch. I cant find them in any stores to see what they lok like in person, but just curious do you think there is a huge difference from 19 inch to 21 inch? It is an extra $300 just to go those 2 inches

Keep in mind the only thing I do on my PC majority of the time like 90% is play Games..other 10% surf the web.

Any advice?

Thanks

yeah 21"mon kicks a22 I had a 19 and got a sony f500 21" it is sick:) heres some info on it, its worth it trust me.

The Multiscan F500, Sony's flagship model, introduces the very latest in advanced CRT display technology from Sony: the FD Trinitron CRT. This virtually flat CRT minimizes geometric distortion and reduces reflective glare that may cause eyestrain. Designed with the demanding CAD and graphic professionals in mind, the Multiscan F500 sets a new level of image performance, ease of use and reliability.

The stunning images produced by this display are a result of Sony's new HiDensity Electron Gun with Enhanced Elliptical Correction System technology. The tight 0.22mm pitch delivers sharp, detailed color images consistently across the entire screen - especially in the corners. Digital Multiscan and Active Signal Correction(ASC) technologies allow for easy set up, regardless of the input signal or resolution. And with a horizontal scan rate up to 121kHz, resolutions as high as 1800 x 1440 @ 80Hz are possible. Our unique DisplayMouse control is easy-to-use and allows for precise manual adjustment of the image to fit individual user preference.

Sony left nothing to the imagination with this display, including GeoLock Plus circuitry. This feature will automatically sense and neutralize electromagnetic fields that can cause image or color distortion, which is commonly noticeable on large screen displays. The GDM-F500 is designed for Windows NT and Windows 98, is Macintosh compatible and meets or exceeds all of the industry safety standards, including TCO 95 compliance.

Depends if you have money to burn. If the rest of your system is maxxed out then yes. If not then upgrade other areas and stick with a 19"

21" do rock tho :)

Wow I wasnt expecting to spend $1700..that is the listed prcie at CDW, even though that monirto does sound like it rock.

Let me ask what is the difference between the GDM-F520 (they dont have GDM-F500 listed anywhere even on Sony site, I assume it is an older model), and the CPD-G520? They are both 21 inch monitors

GDM-F500 $1699.99

CPD-G520 $799.99

Those are CDW prices.

Ok I know there has to be a huge difference between the 2, since an extra $800 for that it better be, but what really?

Thanks

"My Girlfreind said she'd give me the money if I got a 21"

So that's why your gal gave me that money :D

about the monitor, if you want to justify it better, don't think of it as just an increase of 2 inches. Think of the 21 inch monitor as an 18% increase in viewing area over the 17 inch.

It is a very good monitor. I love it very much, now all I need is my 8500 and some drivers that are least worthy of being used as toilet paper (unlike the current drivers).
