What is your opinion about the MSI K7T266 PRO and compare that to the ECS K7S5A?

MSI usually makes a better board, i have no knowledge on either board but i heard good things about teh MSI, heard nothign good or bad on the ECS.

i don't know about ECS but I do know about MSI, i have that same board, I like it, though I'd get the newer MSI K7T266 Pro 2 board using the VIA KT266A chipset..... it's faster and has better features like USB 2.0 etc....

I've had boards from both companies. I will never again waste money on an ECS, no matter how cheap it is. My old MSI has been good to me.

K7S5A uses SIS753 chip set, which is faster than VIA Kt266 chip set. ....

there are some tests reported here.

Quake III test 640x480

1 ECS K7S5A (Sis 753) 195.2
2 MSI K7T266 (KT266) 189.5
3 Epox EP-8K7A (AMD 761) 192.5

ECS K7S5A won the test

3D Mark 2001 and SiSoft Sandra test 1024x768 32MB

1 ECS K7S5A (Sis 753) 55.5
2 MSI K7T266 (KT266) 55.11
3 Epox EP-8K7A (AMD 761) 56.16

EP-8K7A was the best

................ there are some other tests I don't want to list them all. anyway, EP-8K7A is the best which uses AMD 761 chipset. Sis753 and Kt266 are very close and ECS K7S5A price is very good.

Hmm....there's such a big price difference between the tow though...weird....thanx for da help...one more question, wouldn't it be better to get the K7T266 Pro because you can use the new Athlon XP with it? Better for future upgrade?:D

ECS K7S5A and EP-8K7A are good for Athlon XP 1800 !!
