Hello all :-)

Got the Promise ATA 100 tx2 controller card installed on a pair of westren digital ata 100 7200 rpm hd's running RAID 0 (stripping no parity) will have parity soon as budget allows it :-) maybe even mirroring! :-)

what i want to know is if anyonw knows how to get thru the process of .....Dectecting IDE drives faster during the bios of the Controller card........the dectection process takes frickin forever.

but once its done with that and loads the OS.......dayyyyyyyyummmmmmmm
things COOK. (in a good way)

any way to speed the bios boot portion of the card up?

thanks in advance all

There is no way to speed up the boot up detection process as this has been reported as the only issue to deal with.

I use the TX2 with a pair of IBM 75gig ATA100 7200rpm drives under RAID 1 and things run extremely well.

Just ya love it?! Yeah, you're stuck with that extra 4-5 seconds after the initial POST while the RAID card reaches out and touches someone. Never really bothered me...only reboot about once or twice a month.
