First you can go here (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48675) and check some of the flash links.

If you're out tonight pick up this (http://www.peachpit.com/books/catalog/71614.html) book from PeachPit Press. It's a good starting book that will give you all the basics of flash and get you started very quickly. After that there's some action script books that I can recommend.

Have fun.

great links man, I took about every major language in college, but we never studied with flash and how it works.

you wouldn't by chance know where to find more about programming on Open GL would you?

I feel it to be a very powerful tool. If i could learn it then .....well, let's just say I feel it would do me well to learn Open GL.

thanks again

as nice as those links are, I cannot see where it actually tells you anywhere how to do stuff, I mean I am of course a newb at flash.

all I want to do is take a word and put a glimmer on it horizontally I want to learn how to do that then start doin other stuff. But there is no help at all. No how-to nothin

More Help PLS

Hi Lance

For the Flash stuff try this site
http://www.findtutorials.com/DirCatLook.asp?ID=143
Then select the Text Effects. There are some in there. They're not really tutorials but if you download the .fla file you can open it in your flash and just edit it to suit your needs.

Also try:
http://www.virtual-fx.net/tutorials/index.php
http://www.enetserve.com/tutorials/

If you still can't figure it out. Send me the details and i'll creat it for you and then you can just edit it however you want.

As for the openGL programming... I did a quick search on google for you and these sites look pretty helpful.

http://fly.cc.fer.hr/~unreal/theredbook/
http://www.opengl.org/developers/code/tutorials.html
http://www.nvnews.net/articles/opengl/introduction.shtml
http://is6.pacific.net.hk/~edx/ (This ones for VB)
http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-05-1999/jw-05-media.html (with java)
http://www.opifex.co.uk/glprog1.html (hasn't been updated for about a year)

That should get you started.
