Hey there all!!

I am a beginner when it comes to making forms and then doing password protected pages.

I want to know if some of you know a good place to read about how to make a page with a form that will send it right to my e-mail from my webpage.

Also, the second part, is there a place where I can learn how to put a password protect on my page and then those go to certain pages...depending on which user logged on.

Thank you very, very much!!!:D

To get the information from a form emailed to you need something like this in the Form TAG

<FORM ACTION="mailto:PUT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS HERE" METHOD="Post" ENCTYPE="text/plain">
All of your FORM STUFF HERE

</FORM>

The email will be kind of hard to Read but you will be able to figure it out.
Here are some links that might help.

Forms (http://www.zdnet.com/devhead/resources/scriptlibrary/javascript/forms.html)
Password Protecting (http://www.zdnet.com/devhead/resources/scriptlibrary/javascript/security.html) Of course this method of password protection is not very strong but it does work

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I couldn't get that second link to work. But that e-mail thing is pretty cool.

When I was to use the Perl programs to do the password protection, do I need to load a file onto the server where the site is hosted? If so, I wonder where I can find other programs of this.

Thanks!!

Anyone have any more info about this??

I need to know how to make a form so that you can put in some entrys and then have that made into an email. Do you know of a Script or something that is client side? or do i HAVE to go server side to do that??

Also, do you know about the password thing? Any more info would be great!:cool:

Hi MMB

Here is a neat little javascript that you can try.
You can set it up for multiple users as well.
http://javascript.internet.com/passwords/login-coder.html

There are simpler scripts out there but this seems to do everything you wanted.

I'll look into the email part right now.

Hope this helps

Ok

I've found you a email script
http://www.webcoder.com/howto/article.html?number=5,length=4,demo=1,source=1

I suggest that you read the whole 4 pages of the description. It will help you set it up and understand how it works. On the last page is a link to his source code for his mailto form and some serverside scripts. But if you only use his codes they should work just fine. After you get comfortable with it you can edit it to suit you better.

Have fun.
