BUSH IS AT BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE IN LOISIANA

Some of you might know that I am in the Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune. I am sitting in my office observing and listening to the crazy stuff going on here. Status changes continiously. I wish I could tell more, but I don't know too much and what I do know cannot be posted here.
Pray for the nation and all the victims. I hope I can go home today.

Our local news confirmed that he is here in Louisiana. Probably won't hang around for long. I was wondering earlier why our city was going into a state of emergency, maybe this is why.
My god I'm stunned.
I still have to go to class today at 6:30 eastern. I dont think I can concentrate. Also today I was supposed to pick up my car...but I dont know what to do now.
I guess I better start preparing my military uniform...I might be reporting to duty soon.
God bless all those whose lives were lost, and affected by this act of war on the US. May god have mercy on those responsible.
Hopefully there wont be anymore attacks for the time being.

We would like to also say on record that if any country
is found responsible for these attacks, we call for that
country's complete destruction and annihilation.

ok mikemean, your on my ignore list from now on because of that comment...
and about this issue, yes we muslims get blamed for it, the guy on the news was saying "muslims believe that people who sacrifice themselves will go to a better place." That got me sooo ticked off. Yes it probably was bin ladan, but Bin Ladan is a psycho, what he is doing is not jihad (holy war). probably only .5 % of muslims believe bin ladan. Now what you just said mikemean wasnt just to arabs, but was to me and all the muslims that live in US. People like bin ladan give Muslims an extremely bad name.
If any of you guys were watching when those children and women (who were muslim also), jumping up and down happily because the US was hit, they have a reason to. Who is supporting the israelis? the US. Who is fighting the Israelis? the Palestinians. which means that the Palestinians are against the US. Of course they would jump up and down.
I felt extremely weird when i heard this, and was there a month ago looking up at it. It felt as if i was in a movie or something. I thought of prey when i remember him saying that he lived in manhattan, and i was like "oh *****."
I hope nothing else happens that is extremely big. I am in school right now and i watched the news report while getting ready, and here at my german class. I hope nothing else happens as i said before..

this shows what racist there are. to totaly condemn a whole group of pepole just because of the actions of a few demented individuals. as i wrote earlier, this sentiment will be far reaching and unfortunatly, many muslim/arabs will unduly be discriminated against and face this same persucution.

Their closing malls, the Riverwalk and access to the Mississippi river. It's being rumored that they are moving Bush up the river to avoid him being in the air. I don't think it's true though. It's getting weird around here. Lots of things closing and limited access to buildings, our guard is on alert, and our military bases also are on alert.

i havnt read the whole thread but i know everything thats happend cuz we watched it all day at school today. this is truly horrible. the worst attack on the US in the history of our nation. technically we cant go to war because there is no deffinate nation just a group but we can bomb the hell outta some folks. i only wish i was old enough to go. id love to be the one who put the gun to usama binladin's head and pulled the trigger. although i know plenty of people deserve that alot more than me. i wish he could be tortured by every american. i wish they would tie him down and let everybody who wishes to participate tear chunks out of his skin with tweasers. they could make it a televised event and everybody could stand in line to do it. this is total bull**** and there will be reprocussions and bush is gonna hunt em down.

I truly believe that we will find who was responsible for today's attrocity. I can only hope the reponse will be APPROPRIATE for the crime. This was a challenge to what this country represents. President Bush stated it clearly when he said this was an attack on freedom.
I served in the military for 24 years and trained and went to war, but we had a clear definition of the enemy. It appears we are surrounded by the enemy, an enemy that will not directly face the soldiers of this country, but the innocent populace.
When President Reagan ordered the attack on Khudafi's HQ in the 80's and barely missed him, it did send a message. Khudafi got very quiet from then on. I regret that there will be distrust and hatred directed toward islamic and arabic people now, but the television shots from the West Bank of Palestinians celebrating in the streets doesn't help their image.
My heart goes out to the victims and their families that had no idea they would be casualties of a faceless war. My prayers are with you.

This is a horrible tragity.. which i take VERY personally. I love my country... I have a long line of militar in my family. I am very upset...
Supposedly Bush did not order the attacks on Kubal.
After the Afghan's official response of "we feel your pain America" I think that we should respond with the same after we bomb them back to the stone age (If they (and Bin Laden) are the ones responsible of course).
"Hey Afghanistan, we feel your pain. Sure don't know who did that to you. Good luck finding the culprits. Looks like a terrorist attack to me. We would help but we're too busy handling our own issues right now."

I don't think it matters at this point. It looks to have been an attack from a foriegn power.
With that said, is it completely wrong for us to go after ALL TERRORISTS that have ever acted against the US?
If Bin Ladin didn't do it, so what, he needs to be taken out anyway.
I think we will find out who did it and act on that. However, even if we don't, I think there will be allot of action taken against ALL terrorist cells to get the point across. I also feel that this heat will fall on the nations that harbor these criminals.
Don't forget the USS Cole. Bin Ladin was supposedly part of that attack too.

I think it's becoming evidently clear through the elected officials on TV that whoever is found responsible for this, if they are being sheltered by a country (read Bin Laden & Afghanistan), then not only is the terrorist going to be subject to American Justice, but that foreign government will as well..

Ok here is my two cents.
I have not posted at Speedguide for quite some time, but as soon as I heard the news accross the tv, I intsantly thought of all you passionate americans that think the world of yourselves -and I thought I might post my opinion... but it is just my opinion and I am alowed to have that as long as I dont fly a plane into a couple of landmarks right?
Id like to ask you this, what does it achieve if you destroy a whole nation? Lets say that one crazy american/englishman/chinese/who cares decides to go and committ a horific act along the same order of magnitude as the one last night, does that then give the government of the attacked nation the right to go and kill so many innocent people from the perpertrators country, which, and lets be realistic, had nothing to do with the crime? What you are then doing in that instance is lowering yourselves to the terrorists level. One of the things that divides 3rd world nations from 1st world nations is the ability to raise oneself from the face of adversity -displaying the might and power of america by screwing another nation is not the answer.
Dont get me wrong, I was woken at 2:00 this morning (im in Melbourne, Australia) by my girlfriend in sydney with the explicit set of instructions to go and watch the tv... what I saw was something that my only way of describing it was something out of independance day. We were all shocked, sad and afraid for the ramefecations could be severe and prolonged.
My aunt lives in new york and thankfully she and her husband are ok, and we were all quite worried, but the unfortunatre reality to this is that some of you are not so fortunate and have lost loved ones... Im not saying you shouldnt get justice, but screwing an entire country and many thousands of innocent people for the pure sake of getting revenge and making the point that america is the all powerful nation is not right. Trust me, everyone is well aware of the power that america has, it is forced down our throats every single minute of every single day. Punish those directly responsible, not those who have nothing to do with it.
If you guys start a massive war, which could turn nuclear, or biological, so many more people will be affected than you can possibly comprehend. If that happened, then I could never forgive the actions of the USA.
My heart goes out to all those suffering now, its not fair and its not right, but if you follow this under the pusuit of revenge rather than justice, there will be others in the same position that you are in now, and guess what... they will behave in the same way, resulting in only one thing -a vicious circle of revenge, war and death, nothing good could come out of it.
I wish this had never happened.
What you say goes well if we lived in a perfect world. If there is NO consquences then anyone can do everything. I live by eye for an eye. My one hate is that its too bad you can only kill someone once.

Im not self righteous, but stop and consider the ramifications of any actions that you might take.. just for one split second.
What if a world war starts because of this, because you want revenge huh.... then in all likelihood, Ill be conscripted (because Im 20, fit and strong without flat feet), ill go and get my balls blown off and I wont be able to come and spend a good 50 or 60 years with the woman that I love. That is not fair. On top of that, ill be forced to be in a position that I dont want to be, ie kill or be killed. The fact of the matter is that war will solve absolutely nothing. Preventing this happening will, and thats why you need to find the person/persons directly responsible only.
I understand that you are all upset, emotional and a great deal of pain, which is why you need to make a consious effort to stop and consider the bigger picture instead of acting under the heat of the moment.

Well of course the sentuments at the beginging will be anger. But i have faith (might sound stupid) that ppl will be more enlighten that war is the last resort. Looking thorugh WW1 and WW2, the casualties were horendous, and this without much of a nuclear arsenal.

Who Said that none of you are going to start a war, if Bush is representing the general sentiment (which as president isnt that his job?) He said himself (cant remember the exact quote) that america will stage an attack on any government found to be responsible.
What W said was that justice would be swift and sure for any who supported or aided the terrorist. That is a far cry from "attacking any government".
I have been watching the postings all day and refrained from commenting. Your posting was one of the most balanced I have seen all day till you said this.
As one who has been seen war first hand it is not a pretty thing. However, America will track down and bring to justice those responsible for this acts. It is our right and our duty and one can only hope that justice is swift and sure.

Ok, im still on the 4th page but i must post. When i heard this @ school... the 1st thing i thought about was Prey, and all the other people. Omg im starting to cry. THis is so sad. Who could do such a thing, all those kids sitting at home waiting for there mommy and daddy to come home. Dammit. Im so glad everyone is ok, prey seriouisly, god im so happy you are safe, damn imagine if you took that job.
Now, if bush diclares war, they say that if a nuke hits anywhere, it can destroy half of the us in 13seconds. If he declares war, the best thing to do is just send ****ing all the planes in a bomb them to nothing, or they are gonna drop some huge **** on us. Im so scared, everyone is saying that there is not going to be a war, and i kept on saying yes there is. Look at the future. It can all happen. So many people dying. Dammit in those buildings, the people on the top floor, no hope at all and they know it. Just imagine everyone being so calm down the stairways. Then just falling. All those people that lost there lives in less then 5 seconds. I cant believe this. Someone has to be so sick... just ****ing messed up.
I dont know what to do, seriously, Canada and USA stick together. If USA goes to war, so do we.
I dunno, if ur country asked you to goto war.. would you ?
PS: Something that is so different about this thread, is that there are no smilies. That just makes me even more sadder. I dont know why, but it just means how serioius it is. This is very seriousy people. We have no clue. Im scared to goto bed, what happens if something happens while im astleep.
I just dont know. I just dont really know, except of all the hate i have in my heart. I hope those terrorists, as soon as they crashed, they went straight to hell, and will burn there for ****ing ever.
I have so much sympathy for the people on that plane. Imagine getting a call from your husband or wife, saying that " your plane was hijacked, and that i love you very very much. and there is a good chance im gonna die. So i love you. " Just imagine the terror inside that plane. Just that picture of the plane flying into the building. Just perfect, sliced right through it. Its so damn sicking i wanna puke. This is a day in history, which will never be forgotten, September, 07, 2001.
Just i wonder whats next. The USA does not want to be known as a week country... Well they show that by fighting back, so packistan says, when are they gonna stop... who knows, lets bomb them. Then Packistan calls on a country that is close to them to help fight, and the USA calls on others.. i can see it all happening.
Guys, I dunno, But whatever happens, I love u all.
God bless you guys, and all the people that died on this day. Innocent lives taken.. for what ?
Peace,
Matt
Thanks Linuxdawg, I think you put into words what most of us could not throughout the day. be safe
All day long I've been thinking about what happened.
I still cant believe it happened. I remember my mom waking me up telling me about some terrorists in New York. Then I remember my father telling me that The World Trade Center Towers were toppled...I couldn't believe it.
What a shocking day.

Yea I know how you feel. My sister was getting ready for work, i was sleeping and my mom was making breakfast for her. She heard on radio and said pretty loud about what had happened. I jumped outta bed, turn on the tv, and sadly it was true..
This series of acts defies belief and yet there it is.
To all those affected in any way by this act of terrorism I pray for you all in this. What a tragic loss of innocent life and to prove what? Among these were 70 Australian workers or tourists.
I hope the response to this terrorism will be swift and complete. Applying the death penalty would be too good for the perpetrators of this terrible, terrible crime.
Be strong my American friends.
A saddened and angry Croc.

What does Packistan have to do with this? And who is the US going to declare war against? More likely that US will seek out the individuals responsible and bring them to justice rather than blanket bombing of innocent people.

I think he may have been mistaken and had intended to say Afghanistan...they're known to be sheltering bin laden...the US leaders have made it pointedly clear that the government who is sheltering those who were responsible for this will shoulder the weight of retaliation as well...
You bomb a nation`s biggest economic hubs and their most important military intelligence base, killing thousands, its a pretty safe bet they`re going to declare war on you. Those are the consequences you face.@I feel sympathy for the organization or country that did this like I feel sympathy for someone who walks up to a 6'6, 300-pound guy in a bar and hits him over the head with a beer bottle.
So suppose afghanistan does go up in a mushroom cloud...well, thats really no more than anyone would expect, is it?

Some of you may not know but many in Afghanistan live under oppression brought about by the Taliban regime. Bombing these innocent people would be a tragic mistake. Make no mistake those responsible should be punished, but lets make sure who they are and where they are, so that innocent people are not killed.

When they do fly home, I have a feeling it will be the safest flight they have ever been on.
