push a router (linksys) that slows down your connection??
I bought this router after reading speedguide's review.
What the hell good is it if it opposes everything I've done to speed up my cable connection?

It was one of the first routers out hence it has older hardware in it... you have to base your buying decsion off several factors just not one... right now I think the linksys belongs here:

For some reason everyone here likes lynksys. Every now and then a newbie will post a question asking what router he should get. And every time Lynksys commercials come blazin down the pike.

So many people have problems with them, they're flimsy little plastic boxes. Wouldnt you want a Netgear for the same price? I think they have a higher owner satisfaction then the linksys counterpart. And netgear is made of metal. Plus the Netgear has a faster NAT processor.

We have lynksys switches at work for people who have more than one computer in their office and they always break; what a piece of crap. Our Baynetworks/netgear stuff is rugged, fast, and reliable.

I say after a good crap, why not dump the linky in after you wipe? j/k

:p

I Could say how much I loved my experience with the leaksys the day I had mine.. "Day"..
That was as long as I kept it... Sent it back before I got into it to deep out of pocket...
The router I have now aint perfect but between the Leaksys and the Ugate I'll take the Ugate..
Ive heard some good things about the netgear also... They all have problems at least I don't have to put mine on the edge of the Toilet yet...

Folks, I don't know about you all, but my Linksys has been running like a champ. I actually work for linksys. If you would like to give me a better idea of what your problems are, let me know jhardy@linksys.com Also, our newest firmware is out standing and solves alot of previous issues. So please if you're having a problem, contact me and let me see what I can do for you.

Jason Hardy, sorry but I have been there done that. All I got was a rude tech calling me back at my house acting like I was wasting his time. I sent it back the same day and purchased the Netgear RT311 with no problems since.

Jason thanks for the firmware.... besides those two small bugs I mentioned in the email it works great. It even survived my torture test which all previous firmware (except 1.38.1) would lock up the router and once I even had to hard reset it. I say good work on this newest firmware and I hope that when it gets out of beta status that it is just like this or better ;).

Well, I love my Linksys, have never had a problem with it. Then again, I don't play any games online, which is the majority of the problems that I hear about it. My Little Blue Box ROX :D

I have had my BEFSR41 since May 2000. Not a bit of trouble. Have used it with PPPoE and Static IP.

I have a three computer home LAN with Linksys NIC's and Linksys router. Not a single problem with any piece of hardware yet. My downloads are about 3Meg with or without the router.

I see the momentum shifting back in Linksys favor :D

The momentum has only start to shift because Linksys listened.. there network devices are still slow for the most part when you compare them to better products like 3com or Intell networking..
Dont worry if UGate doesnt start to listen theres gonna be a picture of that one on the CAN next to the Linksys...
Now one should have to put up with the speed that these routers are cutting...
Not to mention the disconnections and the list goes on...

Thanks Jason for responding so quick....
