You might have installed diagnostic softwares on startup. Goto Startup folder and see programs you don't use during startup. You could also goto autoexec and look for programs there.
IF you are using Win98. Goto run-and type msconfig. http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
still does it have 2 machines same problem nothing in starup machine boots fast with 1 card put 2 in takes about 8min

try specifing an IP on the intranet card, and also setting a DNS server. on the net side of it, if you use a static ip, make sure its set. Also, again, set a DNS server so that it dosen't have to go look for one on bootup.

ack, why use wingate when there are much easier solutions available? Try SyGate or Windows ICS out first, MUCH easier than setting up Wingate and the Client machines.

iam using roadrunner how do i set up a proxy server using wingate and roadrunner
One that that speeded up my bootup times by a factor of about 10x was a simple bios change
I set the
Delayed Transaction option to True
The has worked twice on my home lan on two difference computers - both were experiencing slow bootup times (windows bootup).
One motherboard was an abit bm6, the other a bf6.
