I would like some opinions on different network hubs that are out there. For now it'll be 3 computers on it. 2 Windows machines and 1 Linux box. I'll be looking in the $50.00-$80.00 range. Thanks

I just set up my home network with the SMC EZ hub 10/100 Model 5604DS. It cost about 80 dollars. Works beautifully. No problems.

Go to http://www.ebay.com
If you did not get it from ebay...you just paid too much for it.

It's actually boils down to how much you like to pay for a hub. Hub prices could cost you as low as $39 to $4299.99 switches.

Ooops. You could get a 4-port hub for $29 bucks. Look here at www.warehouse.com (http://www.warehouse.com)
Hiya!
Just went thru this myself.
I'd recommend a switch instead of a hub (a switch is 'smarter' than a hub!). For less than $80 you could buy a Linksys or Dlink switch.
3com, intel, etc. cost about double, but are the top of the heap, of course.
another great place to check prices and to buy from is www.buy.com (http://www.buy.com) .
you can also compare prices at www.cnet.com (http://www.cnet.com) .
good luck!

For home\SOHO use, the only company I recommed is NetGear. You can get a FS104 for around 100 beans, but, a switch it worth it, especially if you plan on expanding with more machines.
