Hopefully you can help me.
I have:
Amd k6 350 running WIN98 FE
Lexmark 2450 Laser Printer w/ethernet card (does not support NetBUEI) <sp?>
LInksys 5 port Hub
RCA Cable modem from @home.
I want to hook all of this up together, then later a laptop. I only want to be able to surf the web with the Aptiva, not the laptop I'll be adding.
If I use the dynamic IP for the cable modem/Aptiva, what do I use for the printer's IP and the Laptop's?
Of course @home's no help with networking. Thanks for any Info

I would use DHCP and let it assign the IP address for the printer. I assume you are using an HP Jetdirect card. That is.
If for somehow you don't want to use DHCP, you can assign a non-routable IP address somewhere not conflicting with the ones you already setup for your PCs. eg 192.168.0.xxx

TO IKNOWHARDWARE,
IF YOU WANT TO NETWORK THEM ALL TOGETHER, YOUR ANSWER IS PRACTICALLY ON THE DEFAULT SETTINGS OF THE LINKSYS HUB AND CARD (IF YOU HAVE THE SAME BRAND OF NIC CARDS). REGARDING IP ADDRESSESS, YOU NEED TO SETUP YOUR APTIVA FIRST AS A NETWORK SERVER THEN REGISTER IT FOR A VALID IP ADDRESS OF COURSE YOU KNOW WHERE BECAUSE YOUR A NETWORK ENGINEER, BEFORE YOU CAN ASSIGN A VALID IP ADDRESS FOR THE LEXMARK NIC's. AND YOU DONT NEED NETBEUI EITHER SINCE LEXMARK DO NOT SUPPORT THAT. THEN IF YOU WANT JUST WANT TO NETWORK THEM WITHOUT GOING NOWHERE BUT TO YOUR LITTLE NETWORK, GO WITH THE DEFAULT SETTING OF LINKSYS IP ADDRESS OF NON-ROUTABLE IP'S OF 192.168.0.XXX.
ITS A VERY SIMPLE PROCESS, JUST GO WITH THE DEFAULTS AND YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER.
