I spoke with linksys router tech support three times in the past seven days. There are NO plans for a firmware upgrade within the next three months. Here is the name of techie who is knowledgeable if you want to pound on him....

Linksys tech support Chris Kelly 919.836.4828 and by the way he is a nice guy.

Anyone know of simlar router that they would recommend that has NO IP problems?

congrats on having spoken to a tech. i've had terrible luck with their customer service. everytime i call, after waiting on hold for at least 15 minutes, some guy answers and says he'll have a tech call me. it's been several days and several "i'll have a tech call you" and nobody calls. bad, very bad......
