OK here is what I want to do (and don't laugh 'cause networking is all new to me http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif )
ANd so please, please give me as much of your advice and opinion as possible!
Thanks in advance!

I want to set up a dedicated "surfer" computer from the old parts I have: Cyrix 200, 64 meg RAM, ATI video card, and 6 gig HDD, and the internal ADSL modem I got from Bell Atl.
This machine would have nothing but Win98.
Then I would want to get a networking kit (such as Linksys EtherFast 10/100 network in a box...????? advice please http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif
And hook up my surfing box to my main computer.
Now...for the questions:
With that set up would I be able to surff the internet from my main computer?
Could I istall Linux on the surfer box and still have it work with my main system (Win98/2000 dual boot)?
Maybe I should invest more money and buy Cable/DSL router (BEFSR41)? though I really don't need internet on every machine on my house...
I just can't stand how this internal modem slows down my system and security is another issue( while surfing I would have my main computer off...while transfering downloaded files from the surfer to the main compu. I would disconect the DSL)
What'd you experts think?

Yes it will work if setup correctly. I know you need 3rd party software to assign your second computer an IP. win98 SE comes with Internet sharing, you may want to try that our first.

That cannot be done as there are no pppoe drivers written for linux that will work with the version of DSL you have from BA.

thanks a lot selczek.
You've been really a great help
I own you one.
PS: I am sure I will get in more trouble (ie: more questions to ask, once I get the service up and running..just two more days!!)
