Yesterday, at 5 AM I was awaken by extremely loud, ear splitting sound. My dogs were barking. I thought my fire alarm but it shut off immediately. It came from the area of my TV but my TV was off. Then I thought, well there's a vent there so maybe something in basement. I searched my home, I couldn't find anything amiss.

My husband was asleep on the couch so I woke him up telling him about the noise. He said it was from the TV because he heard it too and thought it was the box.

Now, my TV was off so why would the box screech like that. The TV was on downstairs but no error code was showing up on the box.

Why would FIOS do something like that. Why did it affect my upstairs box as my TV was off. Its scary to me to know someone came into my bedroom without being blocked.

How do you actually know someone was in your bedroom? It could have been a power outage/fluctuation in the area.

No, we know what a power outage/fluctuation sounds like. This was more like fire alarm, extremely piercing. I am wondering if they are not programing from the sky, kind of like the electric company can do.

I"ve shut my box off now. Don't want to be awakened like that again.

When the UPS battery begins to drain (power goes out, or the amount of power drops significantly), an alarm usually goes off.

When I had FIOS installed at a former home, the battery backup was in the basement where the service connected to the building, but when I had Comcast phone service, there was a battery backup in the box that was the cable modem and phone plug.
