LAG while trying to HOST

well i play rainbow six...on mplayer.com. I used to have a 56k..and was able to host a few people before they got lag..then i upgraded to a 384 /128 dsl line..which was pretty cool. i was able to ping people pretty bad in games bu twhen i tried to host..avter 3 people i got choppy lag . Nobody else playing did and thought the server was great, but me as host had horrible lag. This is opposite of what should happen..i should be lag free sence i am the host. Recently i upgraded to a 784/384 thinking it would be better.. But the same thing happens. After three people i lag horribly.. can someone tell me what might be wrong. Is it my server, my line or an error in the system some where. I have a pIII 500 mhz..186ram voodoo3 video card. kick ass computer but host worth crap. i would like so help ..ty. Joker

thats wierd, i dont really know anyone who has that problem, the only time i get choppy lag is when mplayer does it to me, then i have to reping and it goes away sometimes, sometimes i have to reping a couple times, try reinstalling r6 or something and see if its any better, i dont know how havin more than 3 people would do that to you, try goin to zone and playin on there, maybe mplayer is jus messin up your game, i think my game seems to run smoother playin on zone, btw if you wanna try over on zone my name there is ICE_VIZION and mplayer its ICE VIZION

Actually I have run into the same problem not with mplayer but with IP and Zone. If the people that you are playing are using dial up they can't download what you are sending them fast enough so your machine has to resend the information causing your lag. I found that if I let the dial up user host there was no lag. Hope this helps.

The only problem is that i tried reinstalling mplayuer and everything...and still the same thing...the only thing it could possibly be now is my video card might be slowing me down.. Zone is the same way. i was told that my vidoe card could be the problem even though i have a voodoo3 video card...does anyone know about this card and is there another one that may work better?
