Well hello peoples, im just a friendly gammer whos comp cant handle HL, Quake3, or UT. However I can still handle good old Quake 2, and them mods for it.
Now for those of you who know what im talking about, pentium 166's with 48 megs of ram, 15inch monitor, and 16x Cd drive... I really aint moving fast.
You see, not to long ago that and my 33.6K modem were fragging and lagging are way about the gamespy scene when one day i decided. "If i have a piece of **** for a computer, why not have the Fastest piece of ****?" - So I set out and bought the fabled cable modem.
well, it was great. plugged it in the first day and set off to test a download. 80Kbs! Woo, i was a happy guy http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif Then came around the next day... And you know what? 3kbs was my download rate.
anyways, since the story is long ill make it short. CABLE MODEM users have to be weary, often times the Proxy settings slows you down incredibly, when its supposed to be speeding up your connection. I recommend to any of you who have a cable modem to check your proxy settings, copy them down, and try removing them, then have a test download or two and see if it turned out for better.
anyways, now I average 60ping in my fav server, and average 100 on others. Sure its not great, but hey! if i run my own server i only get 50 ping http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif and thats cause my comp cant simply keep up with it http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
---------------------------------------------
My Question:
I just bought a Voodoo 2 1000PCI vid card yesterday, install and everything went fine. The only thing that gets my blood boiling when i run 3dfxGL mode on Quake two is the long distance cut-outs. it seems if the map is too long or big it just stops showing me **** after a certain distance. Anyone have an Idea how to fix that problem?
