Newbie Question

I just got a cable modem. Yea!!

But really, after 7 years of using a dial up it is a big deal. To me anyway.

My question is: I have an external cable modem and a proxy server going using a cross over cable. I have file and printer shairing enabled but the network card that is connected to my cable modem is not bound to to anything.

Is my ass hanging way out? If so what do you all sugest?
