Well seeing how Win ME isn't offically released yet, there's not going to be any updated software out there for it. Did you try zone alarm

It's hard to say what's the best firewall for any one individual. I've been working with 3 different products and have found some interesting results. Norton Internet Securities bundles a firewall with thier product however it is a real resource hog likely due to all the other things that go on in the background. It is a very good product doing what most of us need but it's rules set is somewhat complex for a beginer. It's also the most costly of the basic software based firewalls.

Esafe is free however I never could get it fine tuned. I read their 200 page PDF file and even that is confusing to follow. Signal9 (Conceal Private Desktop) now owned my Mcafee and sold under Mcafee Personal Firewall is quite good and I had it running for over 6months prior to the buyout. It's quite simple and has little overhead on your system. My biggest problem right now is with Mcafee (personal issue) and so I've opted to use Zone Alarms product at the moment.

I'm quite happy with this FREE product and will continue to evaluate it. It is small and very very easy to configure and so far seems to be working great. In a nutshell, some of us will like Norton, some will like Zone Alarm or even Black Ice (never tried it yet) so it really comes down to your preference. Most of the Rags on store shelves have got great articles on these products especially since the rash of large network attacks as of late. Another good tool would be to simply do a search on firewalls and i'm sure you'll find lots of interesting information. As for WinME, I believe any of the current products will work fine as it is based on the Win9X Kernel. Have fun.

I am running Windows Me and Conseal PC Firewall 2.06 and it works fine. No Problems at all. I believe Conseal beats Black Ice and Zone Alarm hands down. It is a little more technical but not hard to use.

Only my opinion!!!

There is a patch on the networkice.com web site, for the filter problem. I ran into that a while back. It depends on what version you have, check it out or download the latest version. Hope this helps.
