I know a lot of you have posted messages on this software but I wanted to throw out my scenario and see if any of you have any input. My friend just got DSL in his 2 offices. He needs both firewall protection and a way to share out the connection to his other computers (4 in one office and 3 in the other). I looked into hardware (WebRamp 700s to be more specific) but it was pretty expensive since he would have to buy two. There were a lot of software available for both firewall and internet sharing...all varying in price. I tried ZoneAlarm on my system but I'm not sure if that's sufficient firewall protection (my thoughts being...how can free software be good? maybe it is). WinRoute Pro or Lite 4.1 seemed like a pretty good solution. Are there cheaper or better software out there that anyone of you can recommend? ConSeal wouldn't work because one of the systems he has is running Win2k and their website said they don't currently support this platform.

My opinion is Winroute is a very simple and stable product. It allows you to make nearly everything you need on a simple network (up to 10,20 computers ...). It is the product I prefer among all the products available for public use ! (and zonealarm really sucks ! http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif)

Zonealarm has been installed during 2 minutes on my Computer ... http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
Winroute is still installed .....
