Has anyone ever created a proxy with linux to disguise your ip? If so can someone please give me some info on this and some related sites? Thanks

I'm not sure if you're talking about spoofing, which is illegal. But you can use a linux box with 2 NIC's to route. Setup one nic for outgoing traffic on dsl/cable and the other to the hub for your network. Then you can enable IP masq to allow them all to use the same IP, it translates the local (non internet) ip's to the real one and changes the src port to identify which computer the packets need to go to. This allows you to setup a little firewall or a proxy server on the linux box. Main advantage of the proxy server is the ability to cache frequently viewed pages for faster loading.
