New forum possibility!?!??

ok....this is mainly for the moderators....

i propose that I be moderator of a forum entitled "Uncapping" or somethign like that....it will be a place people can post their uncapping questions, and software.....

i propose this with me being the moderator, because I know how strongly you feel about moderating such topics since you feel they are illegal..(just like warez..but people talk about those here too)....so without you moderating that forum, you wont have to play fireman whenever you see the word uncap appear.....

Brent, John, McDougalll, Bouncer go ahead and email me (my email should be listed with my profile) if not, just tell me to email you, and I will....email me if you guys are cool with this idea or not.....

I'm not a moderater but heres my response.

Why the hell would they do that? It's not that they don't want people endorsing uncapping because they think they'll get in trouble for it, they do it because its wrong to uncap and it hurts everyone who has cable. If you start spreading this crap it will affect everyone, people all over the US and Canada will do it and steal others bandwidth, eventually people will start doing it on my node(or more people will, if people are already doing it.) and I'll have to pay for it. I can't stop you from uncapping your modem, but don't go teaching everyone else how to do it, just keep your mouth shut, that'll leave you more bandwidth to steal for yourself anyway.

why not have it openly be available??? more people should have access to it...it shouldn't just be for the 7337 people on the net.....its not like im twisting your arm and FORCING you to uncap it....but some people run servers (game servers and whatnot) and need more than their upload limit to host big fun games....

how would you have to pay for it??? what are they going to do raise your monthly fee or something?? they have their OCxxx (fill in the number) pipelines giving you the downstream...so you KNOW they have the speed to give it back for uploads.....

but if they uncap their upload cap, it takes away from bandwith to everyone else on the network, and thats not fair. i want more of a cap, but its only gona happen when the companies expand their networks

---Well first it is illegal so NOBODY should have acces to it. Second do you know how bad it would be if EVERYONE on a node uncaped there modem? Speeds would be far worst during peak hours then they were if everyone kept there cap, thats why they have a cap in the first place.

i see your point....but some people are lucky like me...i have roughly 20 people on my node (straight from the Mediaone techs mouth)....so an uncap for me wouldnt affect anyone.... in response to this

yeah...and its also illegal to smoke marijuana, drink underage, warez, and a TON of other things....but people still do it....

how is the upload speed going to affect the speed ur downloading at?? the companies use HUGE pipes (OCxxx...u fill in the number) so you know they have the available speed for the uploads...

We don't want people uncapping!!!! The more people who uncap the less performance we all get... including uncapped people. Capping is a good thing and you should be happy it exists.
