i have a quantum fireball 13gigg hd... in the BIOS settings when i autodetected the hd it shows 13 but in windows it only shows 12

gotta make allowances for formatting and FAT32. My 17gb HD weighs in at 16.1gb in W98 http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
so i cant get that missing 1 gig back>

That 1 gig is eaten up in the FAT. Also, I think I saw the cookie monster with about 500M in his mouth.
No, you will have to live without that space. Or, you can wait for the next MS OS.
awww that sucks...u think ill get that 1 gigg back with windows ME

Most harddrive manufacturers "cheat on the true capacity of their drives by list the storage in "mini-Gigs". Instead of one KB=1024Bytes, one MB=1024KB and one GB=1024MB, the companies list 1 Billion Bytes= 1 GB. Your computer does not read the capacity in mini-Gigs.
Essentially this BS is a way to get you think you are getting more for your money.
