i just got comcast high speed internet three days ago the only problem is i can't connect to the internet. the modem is showing internet action i get on to the "welcome to comcast" page and it says almost done i just have to download the software because comcast has it that i don't need the cd. i follow the instruction i hit download then run while it prepare to install i get a message saying "can't install this package" and something else can't remember then it has a code of 2738 after it. had a tech out today (3/27/09) says i have internet don't know the problem so i will have another tech out tomorrow (3/28/2009) or monday (3/30/2009) forgot that fast because i'm trying to figure out the problem. the other tech is only going to check his laptop to see if he can go on the internet. right now i'm still using my verizon internet until comcast get fix if they don't fix it i will cancel comcast altogether. i wasn't going to go without internet:) so i found speed guide.net hoping that someone can help me solve this problem before the tech comes out.

You shouldnt need their software and I would hope that the tech checked to make sure the modem is provisioned and that you are all set in TCP/IP properties with detect auto set for IP and DNS.

I just set up Comcast while in Florida. I had to call the Comcast office to give them the MAC address of my modem. Once they entered that, I rebooted the modem and was on the internet right away.
I wouldn't and didn't install the Comcast software. It's not needed.
