If anyone can help me with this problem, it would be much appreciated. I have a PCI Voodoo 3 2000 and lately have been having a problem with it. When I am playing almost any game, the game screen just closes and goes back to windows with no error messages at all. I thought that it might be a heat problem so i bought a fan from www.3dfxcool.com (http://www.3dfxcool.com) and installed. At first I thought it was fixed but, then it started doing it again. This happens especially when playing Starcraft and Everquest. Thank you in advance for your help.

Do you have the latest reference drivers from 3dfx installed? Do you have DirectX 7.0 installed?

If not install them

The V3-2 run rather hot, I had to use a slot
cooler and 1 other fan drawing air from outside the case blowing on the card.My case
was not vented very well at all. Now it never gets over 89deg in it and nothing crashes anymore. Two other things to check, 1)
your screen resultion. 2)your monitor refresh
rate.If they don't match up you will have this problem. If it is OC slow it down 6HZ.
Worst case the card is bad.DX7.0 is buggy, try 7.0a. 6.1 was all you really needed.Check
game sites or VoodooExtreem for patches for
the games.Yes,I'm done now. Good luck. http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

Heat won't boot you out of the game, it'll either do some funky chicken dance or just lock up all together so its something else. No ! in the device properties or anything? But if your running at stock speed (143mhz) then heat shouldn't be a problem anyway.. And check for patches at www.3dfxgamers.com (http://www.3dfxgamers.com)

I hate to say this but...

If you're experiencing game flakiness, you may want to go BACK to older drivers. My personal exp with this card has been that 1.04 drivers seem to be the best, most stable ones out. I fly F-18, Falcon4, USAF, and run Half-Life (CS a specialty!) And Rogue Spear. Had nothing but trouble with newer drivers. Went back to 1.04. Voila, runs like a champ. Your mileage may vary, but we tend to think that newer drivers solve all probs. In MY personal experience, that's simply not the case.
