Our season offically ended yesterday afternoon  . Water levels are the lowest in 80 years, and it's so low we're starting to have trouble getting out of the boathouse. So, I hauled it yesterday. Damn.

Ahh that's right...yer freshwater. Yeah...I can imagine...very low water...such as dry summer. How much of an average drop in depth did you experience?

Seems a bit cooler than the usual too for this time of year..like late Oct weather. Didn't take her out this weekend.

They normally start dropping it every year in August, to maintain shipping depth in Montreal harbor. Peak is usually June, and down from there. Typically drops at least another foot in Sept/Oct, with (intentionally) the lowest level in Dec. to prevent shoreline ice damage. But this year, starting Labor day it was like somebody pulled the plug- it's at least 18" lower than August. And since everything here is usually fixed docks (no floating docks for tidal) it creates a real problem when they do it this early. They say they're going to pull another 10" this month to try to raise levels in Montreal harbor for sailboats that are stuck in the mud, which means they wull it out on Lake Ontario/St. Lawrence River.

This one is a pretty cool car- AWD system is unique... ties in with Stabilitrack and traction control systems to divert torque. Mileage so far has been right on par with claims- 1st 3/4 tank mostly all highway was 22.8, second tank of almost 100% around town stop and go short trips, 19.8. EPA rates at 16/22, so it does OK. Funny- my DeVille with the V8 Northstar always avg's. about 24-25 hwy, and avg around town/city of 21 or so. But I guess if you get the Northstar in the XRS you can expect much lower mileage that the V-6 we have.
