I am looking to use the VX-7R radio in a space application in low earth orbit and I am trying to find information/experience upon the radio's solar radiation tolerances.
I am also wondering if the modem used on Yaesu (the CML FX604 modem) is rad hard. It seems like this modem does not have problems with encountering internal bit flips.
If any one has any knowledge about this, I would like to know. Thanks!

Maybe you could ask the NASA engineers down the hall? Or perhaps ask the question over at lawnmowerforum.net?
