DO you know anyone selling QX6850 at the least intel's ad price?

I don't see anywhere QX6850 at $999. The lowest I see is at Zipzoomfly at $1050.

Also no price cut anywhere for the previous versions.

They aren't the 'list' price until about a month after release. They all price bump them to make a few extra bucks from the people who really really really want them.

Seriously, ya gotta calm down.

Retailers can charge what they want. That's why it's called an MSRP: Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. Suggested.

Once the competition starts selling for the low prices, everyone will drop theirs.

when Intel's MSRP is $999, I wonder what is the price they charge to these retailers.

It's called capitalism. It takes time for the market to drive down prices.

Yeah, CPU is the only item that I have ever seen priced above the MSRP.

The actual price charged by any manufacturer is way lower than the listed price. The irony is that merchants have more profit margin than the producer in every segments of industry though they spent tremendous amount of money for R&D.

I wonder why all manufacturers still using the old method of using a middle man to reach their customers. They can very well use the Internet now to sell their product directly to their customers. They can charge the cusomers little more than they are charging their vendors now, that will always be less than we pay now after merchants profit margin. Buyers pay less, manufacturers get more.

well all I have to say is be a little patient.. here is good reason

NordicHardware today reports that they've received some new information about the coming Intel Core 2 Extreme processor based on the new 45nm core(s) by Intel.

First of all it seems that the processor will be named Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6950 (not that hard to guess...). The architecture is better known as Yorkfield and is a 45nm die shrink of the 65nm Kentsfield architecture.

As the 45nm technology reduces the size of core components there is more room for cache, and Intel has indeed filled the excess space with more cache, a total of 12MB L2 cache is present under the IHS. The processor will of course also have a 1333MHz FSB and this new model will be running at 3.33GHz. The price? Like all Core 2 Extreme it will start at $999 when it arrives during the forth quarter.

Newegg isn't what it used to be. I find myself buying elsewhere more and more. Still, some people hang onto newegg life its their life blood. I think their customer service has gone to **** like others (zip zoom fly e.g.)

I've always had good service with them, so till something major happens I'll continue to buy from em like anyone else.
