I have on-board sound via SoundMax digital audio. Recently I got a half/way decent little speaker system (Logitech), and I can always detect a subtle high pitched feedback.

Will a sound card eliminate the feedback?

could be any number of things at this point ...while onboard audio has improved over the last couple years a sound card should improve the quality of sound


have you fiddled with the sound options to see if it goes away?

Yes, I did and that made it better. Still a small bit of feedback when the volume control is over 50%.

I have a 2.1 logitech setup and it sounds fantastic on an old ass sound blaster live. The new card for the price range I got it at is the audigy.

If you have more than 2.1 then go for something better. Otherwise I've heard many people say not to waste the money and I would have to agree.

Ganking onboard sound also increases your computers efficiency since its a resource sucker.

check the connection make sure its tight, is this on a Vista system or XP?

spread them away from any lamps or anything else that might be coming over em. And it could be the speakers themselves that are not shielded properly.
