I am just waiting for the price cut to buy one for my new PC. Everything else is onboard except the processor, just salivating to see my new PC to run with VIsta Ultimate 64 bit....

You might want to buy a few napkins once you realize Vista ain't saliva-worthy.

There are price cuts but not for the high end quad cores.

I'm waiting for the core 2 duos to drop and once I see it I'm going ahead with a new build.

Waiting...

If they price QX6850 at $999, the QX6800 and QX 6700 should be less than that...

Just 3GHz -- first attempt on this mobo, stock voltage. I can undervolt a little but it didn't help temps so I kept it at stock. It's on air so voltage is problematic. I couldn't go any higher at stock, but I haven't tried giving it a little more juice to see how high I could go (mainly b/c it already pumps out a TON of heat and my tuniq tower bairly keeps up, haha). I'll prolly fiddle with it this weekend, though.

Edit: I'd like to see if I can get 3.2-3.3 out of it, but I just don't see such a minor performance boost being worth all of the extra heat from the extra voltage. I mean really, I'm not going to notice it (maybe when that new swiftech integrated water cooler hits, I'll do more).

You'd be crazy in the brain to get a e6850 over a q6600 seeing how they clock nearly the same. Do you want 2 or 4 cores?

I'm waiting for 45nm

Thats nice :thumb:

You are not going to notice much difference at 3.2+ only if you do something like autocad, video encoding etc ...

But 3ghz is so sweet :thumb: :thumb:

co worker/buddy is selling qx6700 (used) with 2gb corsair memory (memory is new, sealed) for $720 on ebay.

yep me too. heat should be down and maybe by then I might be able to use all four cores for something besides one program.

None of the core 2 duo's out will beat mine by much. So I have the greatest and am replacing it with the next greatest.
