I just did a bios update on my motherboard, an ECS NFORCE 570 Slit-A, since then I can't get the computer to boot properly it turns on and I hear the HDs spinning, and my fans and such turn on, but I get no signal to my monitor. I can only assume that it is a motherboard problem because of the bios update... but just to check I have used multiple video cards and different kinds of cables to no avail... So do I have to buy a new mobo or is there something I can do? Thanks in advance for any help you guys (and girls) can give me...
I'm not familiar with that board exactly, but there should be a way to reset the bios (either a jumper or a switch using a floppy to flash the bios to factory settings) See what your manual says or online how to.
And Welcome to Speedguide :thumb:
I don't see that exact board on ECS website but they do talk about how to do it for another board. Do a little digging in your documetation to see if this would apply to you as well
To successfully clear CMOS data on PX1, please follow the steps below:
1. Cut off the power supply by any of the following ways.
A. Unplug power cord from Power supply or
B. Unplug 20+ 4 cable from the M/B or
C. Turn off 1/0 switch from power supply
2. Move jumper JP1's cap from pin 2~3 to pin 1~2.
3. Wait for 30 seconds & then return the cap back to pin 2~3.
4. Plug in the power cord/cable or turn on the power switch & boot up the system.
5. You will see "CMOS Checksum error--Defauls loaded". That means the CMOS data is completely cleared. You can access "BIOS Setup" --> "Load Optimized Defaults" to run the system

Thanks for the welcome.... The documentation is completely and utterly useless... I would try the floppy to flash the bios back, but I can't get anything on my screen, it is no signal the entire time... I've tried clearing the CMOS numerous times to no avail, I even tried to remove the battery....
I know it's a long shot, but they have a technical help request on their site. Maybe worth a shot before you RMA or toss it
only thing i can think of is waiting longer in clearing the CMOS ...of course i have no idea how long you waited before....

Unplug anything not needed to boot, just have power RAM video keyb and mouse and see how it does. Also since you have been in the case, reseat the RAM and video card.

At the moment I think I'll just by a new mobo if you guys can't think of something, I'm not going to mess with their support... I've waited at the longest 5 minutes on a CMOS clear.... I have striped, reseated, and such... I even tested out a different video card...

Have you made sure there is not a "button" battery on the MB. If there is remove it, or put a double piece of paper between the top connector and the battery. Leave this for an hour or so.
When you start the system up again it should say there is a CMOS err and reloading factory settings. If you do not get this the eprom is probably fried.
If the computer "beeps" during the boot, count the beeps and Google to see what they mean for that board.

No beeps, I removed the battery for about ten minutes, should I do it again?

remove battery, unplug PSU, change cmos jumper to reset position, wait another 5 to 10 mins, set it all back.

Did the computer boot at all after the bios update? Did it work before the bios update?
Maybe you hosed the bios when you tried to flash it rendering it useless.
Try another bios chip or easiest just to rma it.
You can try thr method at the following link if you have a floppy drive. http://pages.sbcglobal.net/jefn/bootblock.html (The green hurts my eyes though.)

Nope, no dice... sorry forgot to refresh to see other posts... worked before, hasn't worked since, hence me suspecting a broken mobo due to the bios update... I can't use that other idea because nothing shows up on the screen... It's kind of ironic that I got a bad bios flash using their bios flashing software....

Yeah it sounds like a bios flash gone bad.

I'm definitely not buying another ECS board... I used their bios update software..
