make them upgrade Vista to premium otherwise its a waste to even sit on Basic IMO.

People keep saying that but for people like me premium is just more windows **** to remove upon installation.

To each his own.

Dell screwed up my shipping address over and over and over again. So I asked to talk to the manager and fairly politely said the **** isn't getting fixed. So they gave me a $80 credit.

The funny thing was I was trying hard as hell to get them to fix it so it would be here on Friday. So I'd rather have it on Friday than Monday + $80.

The drama is everywhere!

So i called them 4 days before it shipped, the day it shipped, the day after it shipped, the day after that when they still delivered it to the wrong address.

Then a call trying to get it redirected, then a call trying that again. A few calls between dhl and dell, didn't chart them. Then last thursday I finally had it fixed. Dell AND DHL confirmed its on its way to the right address.

So Saturday some dumb **** at dell calls and says he got it sent back to dell.

THEY WON"T SEND IT TO ME. Now I have to choose between a refund or getting ANOTHER lap top built and sent to me 2 weeks from now.

I'm gonna tell them to let me get an even better laptop or give me a refund and end my being a customer of their forever.

from my own past experiences with dell, you will probably make out very nicely.

In my opinion, it's best to make initial contact through email. Make your demands clear and explain the influence you have on friends, coworkers etc.

heck, hold on for about a few months and pick up a laptop for 1/2 price, the day after Thanksgiving sale..aka Black Friday

I tried for a new laptop back in black friday and still didn't like anything.

I was talking with them and decided I didn't want the 14" anymore. So the sales rep told me to configure whatever else and I would get a discount. So I went and got the 1520 (15" version) and instead of the 8400gs it will come with a 8600gt which is actually what I origionaly wanted but it cost too much money. The 1520 is $50 more for an identical build and the 8600 is a $100 upgrade from the 8400gs.

Pretty badass graphics potential for a sub $1000 lappy. I knew a deal wouldn't be this good any time in the future, so it would have been a bad idea not to jump on it.

In the end I know to tell people to make SURE they don't change a dell shipping address.

This still isn't over though, I need to make sure they actually give me the discount on the new order and that I get the full refund from the old order. Meh, it should work out, otherwise good deal or not I'll just say **** it and get all the money back.

I know, I've had vista before, Compared the list. I don't want any of it of the premium+ stuff. I don't even want all the **** next to the three things basic has check marked.

Got the 1520 and this things runs like a $2000 gaming notebook.

However, dell is ****ing slow on updating the nvidia drivers. They are still on the vista 101 drivers. Not very shabby.
