so, im fixin a friends pc, and he wants more ram, how to i find out what type? he does know know what it is?
I have the ram stick out btw since i had to clean the case n stuff

256mb synch, 133mhz cl3
or, when i get the pc up and running is there a way?
memtest will tell ya what the ram is and it's timings AFAIK

you might want to find out how much ram his MB can handle.. A empty slot does not mean it still has capacity.

The mobo can handle 2 gigs, 1 gig per slot, the ram is micron brand.

Websites of brands of memory, such as www.crucial.com, you can run a little program right from the website that will "sniff" your system...tell you what motherboard you have, what ram is currently installed, how many slots you have, max RAM, and the part numbers of memory options they have that are compatible with your system.
