Did you bite? I did. I haven't tried to OC it too much but I'm at 3GHz, so far. My goal is 3.33 (where i had my E6600). This chip doesn't need anywhere near the voltage my E6600 needed tho. It's already up on ebay (the E6600).

Throw 1.7v through it. If you toast it they make perfect "shot" coasters.

I'll just whichever yorkfield is or lowers to $300 when they come out.

Fry's is like 2 miles from my house. My fiancée will not let me go in there anymore.:rotfl:

How is it in terms of speed? I have a E6600 OCed to 3.6 (not far from where yours was).. Is there actually a noticeable speed different?

Clearly, no longer available.... <sigh>

it was $300 for a crappy mobo and a Q6600. I got one, runs 3.0 for me -- it's hot in here so i can't go any higher (need to reseat my tuniq tho, it's running hot)

300 for a Q6600 is a steal.... for now.

yes, well, the $266 pricing is likely for OEMs in lots of a 1000, so I don't forsee us having that price on the 22nd. The market will take a week or so to adjust, is my guess. Besides, I'll gladly pay 30 extra dollars to have it a couple of weeks early :)

Just saying it for people who want a low priced q6600 and missed the deal.

Honestly though, who is still buying AMD cpu's other than the people who just want to up their current AMD cpu and the EXTREME fanboys?

I'm personally thinking about upping my E6300 because of the prices after I see the results of the penryn cores July 15th.

AMD has some chips in competitive range, depending on deals and sales they can be the best bet for the buck now and then. Granted I wouldn't because with the Intel platform theres a nice upgrade path right now, especially with a price break coming on the quad cores.

Which chips are the ones in competetive range ? Every current Intel cpu rips them apart.

AMD 64 X2 6000+ @ $195 USD
Intel Core 2 Duo 6700 @ $318
Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 @ $222

The 6000+ can hang with the 6600 and in a couple tests hang with the 6700, so for the price its a good buy, not a great buy because with a Core 2 Duo you can upgrade to a quad core and with AMD you can't, but I wouldnt tell someone they made a bad purchase for snagging 1.

There was a GamePC review too but it looks like GamePC took all their reviews off their site :(

Ya but you know how it goes with AMD.
I have here one AMD cpu, good for browsing, email, office work ...anything else ...bleh.

And I dont think you can OC AMD by 70% like you can do with Intel.
Even if I have 6700 OCed to 3.8-4ghz it's still better bang for the bucks than AMD.

:wth: Umm no, AMD is fine for gaming and other tasks. When I said AMD had a couple CPUs that could compete I meant that.

And no I doubt they'll OC near 70% but not everyone OCs. I'm comparing stock to stock, as the normal user would get them, or as you would get from buying a prebuilt system.

:wth: did you try OC intel with Vapochill LS ?

You said you doubt they'll OC near 70%.

And I'm saying it's easy to do this with Vapochill LS.

Anyway, this doesnt belongs to this thread, lets move on.

Rivas, stick the vapochill down your throat and turn it on.

Report your findings when done.
