Somebody gave me a Jetway K8M8MS (http://www.jetwaycomputer.com/spec/k8m8ms.html) motherboard, with a Athlon 64, 3700 processor, decent case and powersupply.
I have a Radeon 9700 video card, a gig of ddr400 Corsair Twin-X ram, Audigy sound card, Linksys nic and an unused copy of XP Pro 64 bit.
I’m trying to figure out what’s the best use for all the hardware I have sitting around. I guess all I really need is some disk drives and rom’s. I have a nice game PC already, also a Dual P3 1GHz server running Win2K3 with a 300 gig raid5.
I'm wondering if a 64bit rig would be good for ripping music and DVD’s, or should I buy some large SATA drives and mirror them, upgrading my network here to a nicer workgroup server? I really don’t require all the permission and overhead of Win2K3 domain controller on my home network. I do like the idea of raid1 or raid5 for a little hardware redundancy in case of failure.
So what do y’all think would be the best use for all this stuff?
