Yep. Just bought an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB DDR3 (came with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter)
A Core 2 Duo E4300* 1.8 GHz 2MB L2 Cache Processor
An Asus P5LD2 Intel LGA 775 PCB R 2.0 PCI express Motherboard that supporst 4GB of DDR2 RAM
2GB of DDR2 RAM (my old set up had DDR1)
and an Antec Neo HE 550 Watt High Efficiency Power Supply

Getting over 100 FPS in Counter strike. But I should be getting well over 200 with this video card. I think my core 2 duo is bottlenecking my GPU. I might want to overclock my CPU so it can suit it's needs. What's the furthest I can OC my processor with the motherboard I have now.. without worrying about damaging anything, of course.

And tell me what you think about my new setup! :D

should be able to hit 3 ghz easy without much if any voltage increase. Nonetheless i would still get a better after market colling solution than the stock HSF before overclocking anything.

Thanks YoS!
So with that, I can OC to 3GHz without worrying about overheating or damaging my CPU or motherboard?

Also, I will need some expertise from you guys on OC'ing my CPU once I get that fan. :)

And Brent, I can't wait! :D

Well check the dimensions and make sure it even fits in your case haha :p

I have had great results with the Scythe coolers like that, it should have no issues keeping your core 2 in a good temp area.

I think my case is big enough. Heck, I didn't think the 8800 GTS was going to fit, but it does.
My friend just linked me to this cooloer. Around the same price range, but I heard it's better. But read the cons.. it emphasizes on the fact that it's too huge and for one guy it even bent his motherboard LMAO

Sounds like poor installation. These big heatpiep coolers are great, any brand, but if you dont replace the backplate like it says(if your socket is one that the intructions say needs the provided backplate) then you can cause some good damage.

I just installed a Zalman 9700 on a friends Core 2 System I had built him several months ago. He has an E6400. At 3.4Ghz with a slight voltage increase he runs like 45 idle, low 50 full load (dual folding instances for several hours). Quiet too.
