Hello. I've been having issues lately with my FPS in counter-strike: source. It's been going on for probably 2 or 3 months now. When I first plated CS:S i had a stable fps of between 120-150. That was when I ran everything on high, resolution 1280x1024, and all settings on high.

Now, I use a configuration called Casey's Configuration. It's generally used by low PC end users who don't have very good computers and need the boost of FPS. My settings are mostly low, and I have trouble keeping a stable 100 fps in a game of nearly 7 people.

The following will be a list of things I do, or have done to try to give my game that extra boost.

Spyware Removal - Weekly Basis
AntiVirus - Weekly Basis
Many Different Drivers for my video card.
Other Configurations
I've tried using all high settings like I used to, to see if I was putting too much stress on my PC by having such low settings.
De-fragmenting
Deleting a **** load of stuff on my computer [I still have 60% space left]

Now here are my computer Specs

OS: Windows XP
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.6 GHZ (2 CPU)
Memory: 1022MB Ram
Direct X: 9.0c
Video Card: GeForce 6800

I'm really not sure what to do, I wish I could just keep a stable 100 FPS. I really don't consider my PC low end, and I personally believe it should be getting more than 50 FPS on all of the recommended settings.

I am willing to buy a new video card if it is needed.

Your help is greatly appreciated, I may or may not be slow to respond. Thank you in advance for any help you may offer.

What spyware removers and antivirus do you use?

Do you have a firewall or a router? using this low ed casey config what is your average FPS?

AD-Aware SE Personal = My Spyware Remove
Avast Anti-Virus
Yes, windows firewall, and i think avast comes with one (maybe)
In a 5vs5 Game, It ranges from 80 to 60 depending on how many people are around me.

Avast could be causing some of the slow down.

Adaware doesnt get rid of everything, I would suggest also using spybot and super antispyware.

When you go to play CS:S disable avast and see how the game runs then.

Disabled Avast, did not do anything. Still the same FPS etc..

I'll be leaving my house soon. Ill be back before 8:30ESTPM I believe. I went into a Public Eastern Server (I'm East). I put all my settings high with VSync Off, I was getting 130 FPS (Alone) standing next to a wall.

I went to the same server and same location, had all of my settings low with VsYN still off, and I was getting 100 fps. Keep in mind im still alone.

No configurations were applied for this test ;)

I dunno, seems odd that they were higher and are now lower, but at 50+ FPS thats more than enough for smooth gaming.

I agree here..and no need to keep posting the same question in other forums, one is fine.

So you guys have no other ideas?

Try some other drivers like you have been.

What was different before?

Could you be mistakeing the slowness as a performance problem when its really latency from your connection or the server?

Installed a ton of mods and stuff to CS:S?

FSAA? And no, i dont use addons mods etc. And IM pretty sure it's not latency :P Sorry for long delay, finals etc been keeping me busy. I believe you're referring to Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing.

I'll check Antisot and antialia were on application controlled. Turned them off. Image settings was on Quality, I put it on high performance, we'll see if this helps.
