Hello. I've been having issues lately with my FPS in counter-strike: source. It's been going on for probably 2 or 3 months now. When I first plated CS:S i had a stable fps of between 120-150. That was when I ran everything on high, resolution 1280x1024, and all settings on high.
Now, I use a configuration called Casey's Configuration. It's generally used by low PC end users who don't have very good computers and need the boost of FPS. My settings are mostly low, and I have trouble keeping a stable 100 fps in a game of nearly 7 people.
The following will be a list of things I do, or have done to try to give my game that extra boost.
Spyware Removal - Weekly Basis
AntiVirus - Weekly Basis
Many Different Drivers for my video card.
Other Configurations
I've tried using all high settings like I used to, to see if I was putting too much stress on my PC by having such low settings.
De-fragmenting
Deleting a **** load of stuff on my computer [I still have 60% space left]
Now here are my computer Specs
OS: Windows XP
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.6 GHZ (2 CPU)
Memory: 1022MB Ram
Direct X: 9.0c
Video Card: GeForce 6800
I'm really not sure what to do, I wish I could just keep a stable 100 FPS. I really don't consider my PC low end, and I personally believe it should be getting more than 50 FPS on all of the recommended settings.
I am willing to buy a new video card if it is needed.
Your help is greatly appreciated, I may or may not be slow to respond. Thank you in advance for any help you may offer.
