View Full Version : Bios update issue
I just attempted to update the bios in a kgvga-m biostar motherboard. I used the CMOS flasher program and a Floppy drive. Everything went perfect except after the flasing was complete and reported back as ''OK'' it prompted to reboot system which i did preparing to return to bios and load optimized defaults as instructed by biostar. Unfortunetally when I wen to reboot the PC no longer wanted to post at all. Ive tried unhooking everything from the board and hooking it back up. Resetting the cmos via the jumper, and removing the battery for a short period of time. I currently have the pc unhooked from power and the battery out in hopes it will snap out of it.
Any Ideas!?
According to biostars knowledgebase If booting without the ram causes a beep then the ram is bad. How this is possible I dont know becasue the thing was posting fine but not detectinb a new 250gb WD harddrive which worked fine in my other pc. I updated the bios in hopes of it detecting it properly.
just tried another of my sticks of ram in the PC with the same results. Cleary not the ram.
try unhooking the ATX power connector from the mobo, take out the battery and reset the CMOS jumper again.
might have to do it a few times maybe.
Did not work. Biostar claims the bios chip is corrupted.

$25 to replace a bios chip for a Biostar? I'd just get a new board. :wth:
