..broke the clips that hold the RAM in place on a memory slot on this laptop(dude, really they're cheap ass and flimsy)....one stick sits at a 45 now and rests against the plastic back of the notebook ...the other is in place no problems ...

how screwed am I if I leave it that way? :D

If it was a desktop that would probly be cool, but laptops get moved around a lot and would probly jar it loose.

ya, i've fiddled with it a bit and it's in there pretty snug....the removable back/bottom plate is keeping it in place ....i mean it sees 2 gigs and it runs fine *shrug*

Better check it after you move it every time :p

I'll crack it open after I get to work tomorrow and see what happens on the way there

I was damn close :D ....I'm still trying to think how I can engineer something to hold it down.....

Bit of foam between it and the RAM stick beneath it...so it doesn't get pushed too far down and touch it. Bit of foam on top of it...that will be between it and the cover.

any way to use a paper clip?

perhaps ...just dont know what issues that might cause by putting one in there...

Kind of ironic that you broke a slot that holds memory named "Skill".

Anyway, I would take the disaster a step further and pull out the little metal clips that push the ram up. Then I would push the ram down snug and hot glue a bead along the black holder.

Hot glue would be strong enough to hold the ram, and soft enough should you ever have to remove it. It's highly resistive to current flow too.

OMG!!! You better just toss it out or better yet give it to me!

yea id try putting some foam directly over the cover and coat the foam with a coffee filter that way its 100% anti-static, then glue that foam on the cover hovering over your ram, and make minor adjustments so it fits snug.. etc :)

Loop some dental floss under the one below it and tie it down.

it won't get too hot for it?....so far I've just been letting it go as is and no issues so far...I also have some wire that I use for gardening but since it's ..well wire I didn't wanna fook anything up under there.

lol....dude...seriously...I pulled ever so gently and SNAP!!!......AND I was still able to get the RAM in there and it works so it's only partially fooked :p

Hmm, I'm not sure? It's not hot enough to burn the stickers on the ram so I doubt it will catch fire. Might want to use the uncoated type though or some wax could melt off.
