Hi all. I have a question. Why my ethernet (NIC or w/e is called, lol) doesnt work anymore? It just....stopped working without warning or an error message!:wth:
I have a Motorola SB5100 Cable Modem and my NIC is a Realtek RTL8169/8110 Gigabit Family Ethernet NIC.

It was working well for like a year or something, but one day it stopped working. My modem's PC/Activity flashing lil light...wasn't flashing anymore which means there's nothing connected, and I had it plugged to the modem! So the light had to be turned on,but it wasn't. I checked the back of my CPU just to find that the LAN Jack was totally turned off (The green light should be on...always).
I downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturer and I even opened my CPU to check if something was unplugged.Nothing worked so now I'm stuck with an USB connection,it sucks btw.:(

Could you guys please tell me is it's broken or something? Should I buy a new one?

Thanks in advance.

P.S: I'm not very fluent in English so if you don't understand something just say it and I will try to correct it.

sounds like it is fried... if you didn't do anything and it just stopped thats what it sounds like to me.. best thing to do is swing by walmart or someplace that sells the PCI ethernet cards and stick that in and rock on. They are pretty cheap like 10$-15$
