I have a 97 Olds LSS. I'd like to replace the speakers (stock) with something more musical. I use to run Kenwood speakers in my VW and really like them. This car requires 2-5x7's in the rear, 2-small 1 or 1 1/2 inch tweeters in the upper door and a couple of 5x7's(?) in the bottom door. I'd like to leave everything looking as stock as possible. I'd also like to keep the speaker cost under $400.00.

For the time I'll be using the current Delco CD player.

Suggestions?

Pioneer, I used them in my altima and loved them so I got some for my firebird, grat sound, using the stock delco unit may mean you'll be under powering the speakers, that would affect the quaility of sound.

Do you know what the head unit puts out for power?

To keep cost down you could let the 1 1/2 tweeters go and just do 5x7s in the rear and door, assuming they are 5x7s, crutchfield.com is a good site to find out what size speakers you have.

My favorite place... http://www.crutchfield.com

They'll have a lot of adapter kits..which will allow speakers and wiring harnesses to be easily installed into some more difficult cars...if yours is one. And also "factory replacement".

I love Kenwood systems...pretty much my fave, always good in honest RMS power....but prefer Boston Acoustics speakers.

Thanks,

I've seen those site and the prices are good. I just hate when I "filter" down to my car I alway wonder why the give me 3 different sizes of speakers for the front door. I don't want to cut the door, just replace the speaker.

Some different size ones can fit in teh same spot.

EDIT: Also different factory packages could offer different speaker placement.

Now you said yours were 5x7 in the fron and back, crutchfield says teh front are 5 1/4" and the back door are 4" and then further in the back are 6x9"
