That's pretty surprising to me. Could simply be terrible drivers (that's pretty damned slow, relatively speaking, though)? Then again, my 8800gtx and its nvidia vista drivers seem to crash ever few minutes. Fun Fun.

Ya someone sent me the link earlier, I was pretty shocked.
It just doesn't seem right, does it?

You have to wonder why they bothered to make the XTX.

I'm not sure, the X1K series is probably still selling strong, thanks to nVidia's driver blunders in Vista. Honestly, the latest drivers made it worse for me (although I admit, I LOVE playing at 1680x1050 @ 16xFSAA and 16xAF).

But look at the XT and XTX results, I mean if thats all twice the memory at GDDR4 instead of 3 can do why bother.
Stupid move based on those numbers.
I posted that link as well after reading about it at another site. Really shocking and even if it comes out at par with the 8800, it still wouldn't satisfy me after a 7 months of waiting.
Mark my words, the acquisition of ATI from AMD was bad for the consumer and I can see that AMD will change there business profile by only encompassing the manufacturing of products that are viably profitable - so good buy to high end video graphic cards!.
What we need is another player to come up to bat - come on IBM...come on INTEL!

Sounds a bit dramatic, this ATI release is very similar to many others.
Wait and see. AMD is bleeding like a siff and in order to satisfy there investors, they will have to focus. There's no need to continue developing high end graphic cards anymore - the entire market is shifting dramatically and for AMD's survival, they have to focus on what works - no more hobby products.

I'll believe it when I see it. ATI fits right in to AMD's goal of a CPU/GPU unit.

The 2900xt does a good job over the 8800gts

I'd give it some time on drivers and wouldn't make too many conclusions until they are compared in a dx10 enviornment.
Rumors suck
Wait until the card is officially announced and released and you read reputable review sites before making a judgement
There are a million rumors circulating now and many of them are false
Brent I always look forward to your reviews, but the damn NDA's never lift soon enough :D .
