Hey all. ever since i SLI'd my PC my system has been hanging up/rebooting at times. Im sure its just a PSU issue since ive only got a 400w one. Im liking the Liberties cable management design so i would like to stick with that! Im just not sure what would a good PSU/Wattage to get. I want to get one that will last me threw a year or 2 of upgrading my components but not spend a hell of a lot of money

I was thinking the Enermax Liberty 620w. Should that be more than sufficent? System Specs below.

thx

Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe
AM2 3800+
2x BFG 7600 GT OC 256mn
250 Gb WD SE16
2Gb OCZ Platinum RAM
Enermax Liberty 400W PSU

I have this one.. ran Dual 7900GTX's in SLI with no power issues at all and still had plenty of power left over.

really. only 510. but it says 650w peak so that would be good. it lists it at $199. for that price i could pop for a 750w with cable management or 149 will get me that 610w.

Overkill units that should last(assuming they dont start using new connectors):

I wouldnt pick that liberty one because of its 12v Rail, in the future if you go to a 8800GTX and a lot of hardware, or SLI 2 8800GTXs, or some future card that kicks ass and draws more power comes out, you'll want a lot of power on the 12v rail.

let me know if im wrong, but the 12v rails on the enermax liberty are rated at 22A and the OCZ 700w one that you booked marked is only 18A. so in this case wouldnt the Liberty be better?

Adding the 12v rails, OCZ has 4 vs the Liberty's 2. So its 72A for the OCZ and 44A for the Enermax Liberty.

44A isnt bad, but if I was trying to make a PSU last I would want like 60ish total.

Supposedly the ones with the large single rails like PC power and cooling are better.

ok. i didnt see that. i guess i really dont need that whole cable management thing. I think I will go with the OCZ one. its more in my price range and i think it will last me a while! all i really wanna do is add a tv tunner card and maybe a sound card in the future. in a year or so then ill upgrade my vid card.

Cable management and modular stuff is nice but it seems like they never do any of that for the beefy PSUs.

The gamexstream are nice, and from what you've listed for changes in the future you would easily be set.

The 8800GTX requires a PSU that puts out a total of 30A on its 12v, for the system and the card, so you should be all set for GTX SLI if you decided to go crazy when you upgrade.
