I am also on SatMax 5 and have been for 4 years. I upgraded from the DW4000 to the HN7000S because I was getting the same low speeds as you. I am still getting the following speeds. Even customer support says they are slow speeds. Be sure and test on their site, as that is the only true test. The only thing you can do is call customer service and after a while you will get to upper level support and they will be able to help. I know it is a pain, just be patience, and under standing. Support is there to help and will. HughesNet is still the best satellite provider out there. An installer is coming out on the 15th March and I will keep you informed on the out come.

Complete waste of time. I've had it for one month. I can't get above 260 down and with the programs I use thats about 2600 latency compared to 500 latency on good old dependable dial up. I never had a good experience with tech support. I called them 4 times within a 24 hour time frame - they got nowhere. I went to advanced tech support had a brand new highest end laptop you can buy and they guy told me it was my network card. Took my pc directly to a broadband connection and had no issue. Bottom line - too expensive, faster speeds on dial up and more dependability meaning you can still use dial up in almost any weather condition. Do yourself a big favor, save yourself some money and get a second dial up connection. You'll always have a connection, you'll pay 20 bucks instead of 80 per month and you'll get much faster speeds even for gaming.
