View Full Version : Okay I'm tired of lag, and disconnections

What the heck can I do about this? I'm running a wireless connection with my PS3, I've got a 100% connection all the time, UPnP is available, so I know all the ports are being opened on my router. I've done a speedtest for my computer and it reads that I can download from their (my ISP) servers at 950.20 kbps (118.78 KB/sec), the offer a 1mb download max right now. I'm running a Belkin router with the latest firmware and all, what can I do, or better yet what can I buy to increase my online gaming speed? More MB from a different ISP? Maybe a T1 modem maybe? (I heard those were quick modems)

Any advice is greatly appreciated

When gaming do u have torrents running or are u DLing or uploading stuff at the PC?

No I usually put the comp to standby, because when it is on, the disconn. and lag are more severe.

try keeping your computer off completely, ive had the same issue with lagging or going in to blue screen when i was playing halo2. couldnt stand it. also try disconnecting your modem for 30 seconds. if you r using a router disconnect that as well. replug it in, turn of your computer. go to network settings with the 2 lil pc's and click on support and repair, and it should do the rest. after that reboot your computer.

Almost every single game I play, I've even put the ps3 AND the ps2 in the DMZ, and still 15-20 disconn an hour.

I reckon that's the problem, being it wireless, your router can probably only do so much... What wireless system are you running?

Also, where are the servers that you are trying to connect to?

And, where are you located?

I'm running a Belkin Wireless G Router - 2.4Ghz-802.11g, I'm not to sure where the "Gamespy" servers are, and I'm in the U.S.

the online gaming for ps2 and PS3 from what i heard is not all that perfect, after all its free.
