Today I played like 2 hours of Q3 and Unreal Tournament (multiplayer..obviously) and when I finished, I just checked my Norton System Doctor to see how many MB (GB) was free...and it showed a figure that was 30MB lower than what it was before I played these games (I check System Doctor quite frequently)...is this normal...how can I regain this HD space (I know its a small amount..but if 30MB keeps adding up....I'm gonna get screwed with HD Space).

Awwwwwww, come on
Somebody has to know why I've lost 30MB without doing anything!

since no one else seems to know, here's MY guess

When you play online games, you d/l all the decals, skins, sounds etc from all the players you see. But I feel 30MB is large though.

well, that's my guess to that...

Q3 has an autodownload feature, so maybe that whatever it downloads stays in your PC. I am not a hardcore gamer so I could be wrong.

Perhaps its using the swap file. (Virtual memory)

It isnt gonna get freed up till something else uses it later. The games you mentioned use a ton of memory. Thats my guess.

...I don't know about ALL operating systems, but in the ones i've used...(95, NT 4, and 2000) the swap file is space already set aside (ie, the file size will not change) sooo...i don't think it's the swap file. but i'd tend to agree with the map/decal/etc. downloading theory...that sounds right http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/eek.gif
