Ive been having this ongoing struggle w/ IE5.5 to work w/ my computer for say whenever 5.5 came out..for some reason after I install the culprit it starts to give me errors whenever i try to explore items on my computer or the internet..it seems that it gave me an illegal operation error at module BROWSEUI.DLL..so what did i do!? Try to extract the file from the windows\options\cabs but it wasnt in there..and thats the only file that seems to be stopping me from having it installed correctly..system=600mhzp3 WIN98SE 128 megsRam..dunno what it is and I would really like to use it..any suggestions?

Hey Tekneek,
Use the Repair tool in Ie......Go to Programs ....Accessories .......System Tools.....System Information.....Go up to Tools.....Click Internet Explorer Repair Tool Follow the prompts...Or just Download Ie 5.5 and reinstall....

OK where should i start... =) I used the repair program many times to no avail. Ive downloaded the thing 6 times already to have the same problem again...I went into add/remove programs and uninstalled any previous versions of IE (5.1,5.0,4) and tried to install it but once again same error. So then i would have to download 5.01 IE explorer and reinstall it..now the thing is this..i know WINDOWS98 SE uses the BROWSEUI.DLL all the time..like the kernel32 and so on..i can replace the .DLL through MS-DOS but the thing is where can i find another copy of this file!? Maybe someone can give it to me from a pc thats working fine w/ IE 5.5..dunno anymore clues?
Tek
P.S. Thanks for trying anyways.

The file you need is NOT in c\windows\options\cabs

Those cab files are from the ORIGINAL windows installation. IE5.5 was most likely an upgrade to IE5 or lower. That cab file you need will be in the folder that you downloaded IE 5.5 to or it will be on a cd if that's where you got IE 5.5.
