I just did a partition and i moved icq and everything else to my new partition using the build in program. The program runs fine except i can't connect. i know its not a partition problem because i am running aim from that same partition and it works fine. I have no idea whats wrong, but if i reinstall icq will i lose my buddy list? i would prefer not to reinstall so everyone plz try to help, thanks.

I don't know if I'm going to be much help and I don't know what version you have but I had a similar problem with ICQ98 (I have 2000B now). There should be a folder in your ICQ main with all your contacts in it. Save that file and install ICQ again. You could also try installing over your origional. And if all this fails send your contacts to one of your friends on ICQ, reinstall and have them send your contacts back. I'm sure you know this already but I see no one has been able to help you so far. http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

the only thing you need to back up is the ICQ (version) folder. Instructions are on the ICQ web site too.

The easiest way to move your buddy list over from a 2000a to a 2000b ICQ is to save the subdirectoyr 2000a in your ICQ directory. The files with .dat and .idx and your UIN number attached is your contact list and message archives.

When you re-install ICQ on your new partition you have to register your UIN then sign off ICQ. At this time you want to move the backup .idx and .dat files into the new ICQ 2000b subdirectory.
