IE 5.5 History

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to delete the history in IE 5.5.

I have gone into tools/internet options and cleared it from there. And I have also told it not to hold files for more than a day. Yet when I look in there after deleting stuff still shows up???

If you have Tweak UI, go to the Paranoia tab.
You can clear the various "traces" from there at the Login.

well I use IE 5.5 on one of my boxes and the clear history box works fine,try IE repair.

Okay I have tried everything that I can think of. I repaired IE 5.5 and the I downloaded TeakUI and checked everything off in paranoia and rebooted and still the history remains. I can even click on history, right click on today and select delete and the folder will disappear. Then I click on view history by today or any of the other options and there it is again??? http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/mad.gif

I don't know what to do but someone is out to get me!!!!lol please help.

P.S. Everything use to be fine until I went to Core Meltdown and clicked on a %^*#%#% warez site. Now I pay the price. Could it be something in my reg?

There's many ways to delete that. Your not a 10year old kid looking at porn are you? LOL JK
Look for a program called windows washer it will delete all that when ran or you can do it with the control panel. If you have a tweak program you can have it delete this on the closeing of the IE/netscape browers or you can goto my computer and then C:/ then windows C:/windows/history and delete it from there. And if your trying to hide what you looking at from someone who owns the computer or knows more about it then you, You have alreaddy lost there's a lot of programs that will watch windows.

damn just read the post before my last one. It can really only be one of two things. If its a factory computer it may have protection on or if you have someone who doesn't want you looking at something could have it protected.
If those are not the fact. Then you need to go here (http://www10.torget.se/tucows/virus95.html) and download a program called mcafee and go here (http://www.mcafeeb2b.com/naicommon/download/dats/find.asp)to get the kickazz dat file that's call super dat. And scan your computer for what I would think would be a trojan prob.

Well, like i said JK=joke.
If your trying to delete it and it want let you click the file or delete them. That's not a little funny??
Just sounds like a few viruses that I know of, A hackers going to use the history too along with other stuff on your computer if thats the case. That would be a good way to insure that the history is there for a hacker.

Hi samckdab: For a one time solution for your history, cookies etc. Just omit cookies etc if you don't want to delete them:
Your Cookies, History and Temporary Internet Files, by default should be in C:\WINDOWS. If not adjust the path to these folders.)

To clear those folders, REBOOT to DOS and type the following (followed by pressing ENTER)

smartdrv
deltree /y tempor~1
deltree /y history
deltree /y cookies

This could take a few minutes, when it's all done, REBOOT the computer.
