I cant host games, and you cant even get a ping from my ip address 10.xxx.xx.10 my gateway is 10.xxx.xx.1 Im not behind a firewall....thanks for any info

oh by the way when i test the ip and dsl reports it tells me that its not a public ip address

You are right that is not a public address. Address that are designated private are not assigned by InterNIC:

10.x.x.x for class A network
172.x.x.x for class B network
192.x.x.x for class C network

Unfortunately you cannot just change your IP. Ask your ISP if there is any possible way to get a static IP. Chances are there is not. Sorry.

FYI - the private address space is as follows:

10.0.0.0/8
172.16.0.0/12
and 192.168.0.0/16

I beg to differ with you about not being behind a firewall.

The fact that you have a NAT (network Address translation) address says the Natural firewall associated with a NAT server is in place on your modem.

You probably have a DSL modem that has a built in DHCP server.. Thats why you have a 10.xxx.xxx.xx IP address.. You may even have, I'll Guess, the Cisco 675 external modem?
